SAGINAW, MI — Police are investigating a former employee of a Buena Vista Township McDonald’s for allegedly stealing customers’ credit card information.
Buena Vista Township police report that the person was previously employed at McDonald’s 3200 E. Holland Road location. While working the restaurant’s drive-thru window, the employee would take credit cards and snap photos of them before returning them to their owners, police report.
The person then used the information to make illegal phone and online purchases, police allege. The activity was not limited to a one-time occurrence.
The employee has been fired. Police have arrested the suspect, who is lodged in the Saginaw County Jail on felony charges.
“Please make sure you are practicing good credit card safety and carefully review your credit card/debit card statements, especially during the holidays,” police wrote in a Facebook post.
Citizens who believe they are victims of this scheme are urged to call 989-753-7793 and ask to speak to Detective Sara Yant.
