John McClain grades the Texans after Sunday's loss to the Ravens:
Overall
It was a wretched performance by the Texans. The stage was too big for them. They should be embarrassed for what they put on the field. Grade: F-minus
Quarterbacks
Deshaun Watson played his worst game of the season at the worst possible time. No touchdowns, a 63.7 rating, two turnovers, seven sacks. Grade: F
Running backs
Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson were bottled up until the game was over, and Hyde scored the only touchdown on a 41-yard run. Grade: F
Receivers/tight ends
DeAndre Hopkins had seven catches for 80 yards. Nobody else was a factor. Kenny Stills averaged 6.8 yards a catch and Keke Coutee 8.3. Grade: F-plus
Offensive line
They had their five regular starters for only the fourth time. They had been 3-0 together. They didn’t run block or pass protect. Grade: F-minus
Defensive line
The linemen played the run well early but got overpowered and pushed back. Bad run defense and a miniscule pass rush. Grade: F-minus
Linebackers
They missed a lot of tackles and contributed greatly to the awful run defense, and they were terrible in coverage. Grade: F-minus
Defensive backs
They struggled in coverage, lost Justin Reid and Lonnie Johnson Jr. because of injuries, and got pulverized against the run. Grade: F
Special teams
Ka’imi Fairbairn missed a 43-yard field goal. Bryan Anger had his worst game punting. Coverage and kickoff returns were good. Grade: D
Coaching
Bill O’Brien and his assistants had two weeks to prepare, and the team still wasn’t ready to play. Nothing they tried worked. Grade: F-minus
